The cost of prescriptions can be quite scary if you're getting more than one at a time - but there's a way of saving money - Prescription Pre-payment Certificates (PCC) - are a way of making prescriptions cheaper.
Is it worth it for you? If you get at least 4 prescription items in 3 months or 14 items in 12 months then you will save money.
If you're not sure whether you will be getting this many prescriptions then ask each time you get a prescription for a proper receipt - a FP57 - the chemist will know what it is. You can then claim for a refund of your prescription charges up to 3 months after paying - so keep an eye on them and if you hit 4 receipts within the three month period it's worth you buying the prepayment voucher and claiming the charges back. Read the FP57 form as it's got all the info on.
